2024 Draft Rankings
For the very upper echelons of the draft, NHL-ready talent remains. Macklin Celebrini looked like the top prospect entering the season, and he remains in the pole position after a blazing start to the year with Boston University. The endlessly creative Ivan Demidov and the automatic goalscorer Cole Eiserman round out the top-three, but Cayden Lindstrom is working his way into the after-Macklin tier. The 6-foot-4 power centre has the complete package of skill, speed, and smarts.
Weight: 176lbs Date of Birth: Apr 10, 2006 Sahlin Wallenius is a very, very smart defenseman that shows a clear understanding of what his role is and how he can make things happen from his spot. Terik Parascak RW, Prince George, WHL Parascak is a fleet-footed, quick-passing forward with a good sense of how to move the puck around the offensive zone and create chances. Miguel Marques RW, Lethbridge, WHL Marques is a strong-shouldered winger capable of pushing his way into his spots and using his strong frame to stay there. His talent is undeniable, he just needs to find how to apply it more consistently.
This also represents how close players are once you get to a certain point in the draft.
Note that this uses the raw data before the top and bottom scores are removed. The highest variance in the first 32 prospects is Gracyn Sawchin with a range of 103. This the highest range of anyone with a first round grade since we started this project. The biggest average drop off in the draft happens between the 28th-ranked Daniil But and the 29th-ranked Ethan Gauthier. Below are the 140 ranked players. In order to qualify for the rankings, players needed to be included in at least six of the 16 sources since we took away the top and bottom two scores, we wanted to make sure players were guaranteed to be using at least two of their own rankings.

He takes many useless shots and he lacks some hockey IQ with awareness.

Gaining another inch or two would do a lot for his draft stock, but Hutson will likely be one of the most talented offensive defensemen in this draft class regardless. Tanner Howe 2024 stays red hot with this first-period tally. He has 9 goals and 15 points in his last 7 games. His 16 goals and 34 points in 24 games are good for 9th in WHL scoring. His rookie production gave him a 10-point lead over every other U17 player in the league, with only four other U17 players cracking 30 points. Dickinson skates well for his size which bodes well for his NHL projection, though he will need to put in some work for his offensive game to be worthy of power play minutes in the NHL someday. Skahan is 6-foot-4 and skates quite well, which makes him very physically imposing against junior competition.

Eiserman will rely on his reach to stick lift attackers and force a disruption in oppositional puck possession. He has good puck manipulation and will use it to draw in attackers and then quickly pass underneath the stick to an open teammate. Eiserman has an excellent shot especially from range. He does play with a bit of a physical edge in all three zones. When in transition, if Eiserman is driving the puck up ice, he does struggle to get separation around attackers. Josh Tessler 4 — Berkly Catton, F, Spokane Catton is going to push the envelope all season for the 2 spot in the upcoming draft. His microstat profile is aburd through two games. In the offensive zone, Buium is a great quarterback from the point. He will shift across the point and pinch up with the puck in an effort to identify and utilize a passing lane to the slot.
Defensively, Buium does a good job of positioning himself in front of the attack to take away skating lanes. He possesses a rare blend of skill, size, and speed as well as playing the coveted center position for one of the strongest teams in the WHL. Lindstrom is a fierce competitor who plays every game with a Tkachukian-edge. He boosts impressive speed and agility which he uses to frequently attack the middle of the ice on rushes. On the defensive side of the puck Lindstrom provides great support for his defenders when the puck is in the corners, and he also has a very active stick which he effectively uses to disrupt passing lanes. Lindstrom has the making of a star modern day power-forward and will certainly be one to watch as he is sure to move up draft boards as the year goes on. He has a pro-favoured frame at 6ft3 and 194 lbs, and uses it incredibly effectively in both ends of the ice. In the defensive zone, he nips plays in the butt, and accelerates the transition game with quick up passes. Skating is a strength, and there is no glaring weakness directionally.
He can go all four directions well, with good agility to re position when needed. When defending against the rush, he communicates well with his forwards to explain where he needs the support prior to crossing into the defensive zone. He implements extremely good positioning to shut down passing and shooting lanes to the interior. Jiricek does a great job of re-adjusting his positioning when defending against multiple attackers to shut down potential one-timers. When behind the red line and along the boards, he plays with a physical edge and will look to pokecheck. He loves jumping into the rush and pinching up with and without the puck. He will look to position himself in the high slot and pepper shots on net. Levshunov has collected quite a few assists at 5v5 as a result of generating rebounds for his teammates at the crease. Since he likes to pinch up and play up in the offensive zone, there are shifts in which he finds himself slightly out of position and struggles to get back into position.
He loves to take advantage of tight passing lanes when on the rush and pressure intensifies. Parekh will complete outlet and stretch passes underneath the stick of the attacker with ease. When off puck but his team has possession of the puck, Parekh loves to jump into the rush and provide his teammates with a passing option up ice. In the offensive zone, when pinching up he loves to change up his pace to throw off attackers and buy separation so he can net enough space to get a pass off to the interior. Last year the Finn put himself in the conversation as a potential top five pick, with 11 points in 33 Liiga games at just 16 years old. This year he has advanced that conversation further. That should probably be turning more heads than it has. He is a fantastic transition player and drives play as a result. His passing is crisp, accurate and deceptive, and while he might primarily be a play-maker he has a good shot, especially his one-timer from the left half-wall on the power-play.
He is not the fastest, but is extremely shifty and agile. Helenius also has an exceptional compete level, and is more than solid defensively. Alex Appleyard 12 — Luke Misa, C, Mississauga Luke Misa plays a very high-tempo game, prays on the vulnerable when on the forecheck, can drive the rush and create chances off of the rush regularly. Misa will feather passes in tight lanes in all three zones as he looks to push play up ice. In the offensive zone when off puck, he does a great job of finding open ice down low to create an intriguing passing option for his teammates. He will also look to jump onto loose pucks at the crease and capitalize with a quick goal before the goaltender can react. Misa has tremendous upside and could see a bump up in our next set of rankings. The highest a Norweigan has been picked was Marius Holtet, who went 42nd overall in 2002. The Oslo native has everything to be a top NHLer.
The things that make him stand out?
He put up good numbers but was prone to make some crazy miscues while dishing the puck out. But when Mews is on his game, he commands attention like very few across the OHL. Still, he looked great at the Hlinka Gretzky, showing solid two-way ability and quick hands. Howe started off spectacularly with six points in his first three games but has quieted down to a pace closer to his 85-point output last year. He made a splash with 45 points last year, displaying his powerful release against unsuspecting goalies. At 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds, he has size, and he skates well enough for his frame, too. His ice time dwindled as time went on, but his play against U-20 players has been impressive.
He can tend to follow the game too often, so he needs to get out of his comfort zone and attack more. Simon Zether, C Rogle, Sweden U-20 Zether is a 6-foot-3 forward who can put significant power behind his shot while being quite impressive in tight to the net. But in a recent viewing of him against U-20 competition on Friday, Zether had two goals, three points and seven shots in a 5-1 win — the fifth time he had three or more points this year. He routinely faces 35-plus shots a game and seems to perform better the busier he is. Still, Leenders looks like the best goalie in a draft for any team looking for depth in the crease. Imposing, long reach, deceptive skater. Adam Jecho, C Edmonton, WHL Jecho has been on draft radars for a few years now, having played in a whopping three Hlinka Gretzky Cups, mixing speed and size together to form an interesting package. He just missed the 50-point mark as a rookie with the Drakkar, and could very well crack 50 goals this year.
A shoot-first winger, he could serve to use his teammates a bit more, but he has top-six scoring upside.
The positive side of things for Eiserman, is in his offensive abilities, mainly his ability to find soft spots in the offensive zone. When he does, his brain takes over, and then the best of his toolkit takes center stage. One-timers explode off of his stick, and he can flat-out shoot any style of shot that is required. Petersburg, where he played just four games, earning starts over Philadelphia Flyers seventh overall selection in the 2023 Draft, Matvei Michkov. His mobility on the blueline allows him to present a constant offensive threat, and his footspeed gets him into high-danger areas regularly. Projection-wise, he looks like a sure bet future number one power play quarterback. His deployment had nothing to do with a lack of talent or potential, but simply the fact that he was 16 years old, and the other two were 17 and 20 years old. Defensively he is great, and his mobility and long reach aid him, but offensively is where he could stand to grow and he has shown glimpses of his potential.
He looks to be in a top-four defensive role when he reaches the NHL. Cole Hutson Cole Hutson has been described as better in some areas than his older brother, Canadiens 2022 second-round selection Lane.
